About

WildChild is a custom hand-crafted pet goods brand dedicated to creating and delivering one-of-a-kind pet portraits to your door and into your paws.

Each artwork we make is completely unique and doesn't exist anywhere else in the entire universe. Your pet's portrait is a piece of your family history and is created with quality ingredients to make it stand the test of time. Some day when escavator's are digging up the 2020's, your pet's portrait might be evidence toward our history (and maybe even end up in a museum! woah.)

 Our Team

The dedicated love you have for your pets inspire the paint outta me and I get such a kick out of helping you show off your pet's unique personality. You are the reason I do this.

Your stories mean the absolute world to me.

Every time I hear one of your stories about revealing your portrait, it LIGHTS UP my heart and motivation toward what I do. Always feel free to share your stories with us!

story: I recently exchanged a portrait to the owner of one of cutest and most-non threatening shih tzus that I've ever met (imagine baby yoda and chewy mixed together). Because this dog would always peer out their window, guarding the house, his human wanted a portrait of him in a security uniform to give her husband for dogFather's day. As I pulled out this  "guard dog" portrait, we locked eyes with each other, then the portrait, and then just started cracking up and belly laughing at this alter-ego of her dog. It was perfect.

And that is why I do this.

 Where We Started

WildChild Pet Portraits started out as McCal Joy Petsketches, (I am the McCal part) which was born out of a pet rescue event that the Plains Art Museum was hosting, and I was asked to create pet portraits ( along with a few other chummy local artists) of people's dogs when they came in to donate. Long story short, the shelter was able to find homes for all the cats (feel free to ask me about the 200+ cat lady) and I just realized how much I loved drawing and painting people's little pals. I continued to do this as my side hustle for around 5 years before I realized that I wanted to take the "side" out of "side hustle" and really make these as cool and unique as can be.
